Melinda Smith is a poet, editor, teacher and lawyer. She is the author of seven poetry collections, including the 2014 Prime Minister’s Literary Award-winner Drag down to unlock or place an emergency call, and most recently Man-handled (2020). She enjoys collaborating with artists, musicians and dancers to create work in new ways. She is a former Poetry Editor of The Canberra Times, and lives on unceded Ngunnawal country with her partner and two sons.
