Keeping it Real

15 Jun, 2022

A companion-piece to our first Creative Recovery and Resilience Forum event Keeping it together, Keeping it Real saw us drawing together the themes and outcomes of the whole Creative Recovery and Resilience Program in a multi-activity event held at the University of Canberra on 4 June 2022.

In Seat at the Table, 40 artists participated in a facilitated conversation about strategies and support for the sector.

At the same time, 7 artists workshopped pitches for new creative projects, then presented them to the assembled crowd. To pilot an alternative peer-awarded seed funding model, the pitchers voted for the ‘best pitch of the day’ and took away cash prizes.

A pop-up exhibition of photographs, films and other documents showcased some of the work made by Creative Recovery and Resilience Program artists and producers over the last year.

Simone Penkethman captured key aspects of the event as Writer in Residence and Juliette Dudley was commissioned to illustrate the event as a visual response.

This is a project of the ACT Government’s Creative Recovery and Resilience Program and is supported by the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund.
