Deb Hayes | Auslan Interpreter

Deborah Hayes is a NAATI qualified Professional Auslan Interpreter who has ben working with the Deaf Community since 1983.

Deb began using Auslan in the arts arena in 1994 when she interpreted a Johnny Farnham concert and then worked with the Black Swan Theatre Company in Western Australia.  Deb has gain extensive experience providing Auslan interpretation for the Canberra Theatre, Belconnen Arts Centre, Canberra Qwire, Carlotta, Anh Do, Fiona O’Loughlin and with Disability Advocate Sue Salthouse – Flash Mob.

In 2011, Deb negotiated the provision of Auslan Interpreters for the Canberra Carols by Candlelight.  Deb led a team of Interpreters and Auslan students, providing ongoing support to prepare for this and ongoing events.

Currently, Deb provides song interpretation for The Dreamlanders and other Community Art events in Canberra and the surrounding regions with Liz Lee – Skills Caravan and Dianna Nixon – Gentleman’s Companion.
