Sarah Stewart who was born in England, lived in New Zealand and moved to Canberra ten years ago. Sarah is a nurse and midwife who has practised as a clinician, senior lecturer and policy manager. Sarah is now a Senior Director in the Office of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer in the ACT Health Directorate.
Sarah has always enjoyed making people laugh and as a result did a comedy course with local Canberra comedian, Chris Ryan, in September 2020. Since then, Sarah has regularly performed stand up comedy in rooms around Canberra and further afield. She is a member of the very successful comedy show The Women’s Room who had sold out shows at the 2021 Canberra Comedy Festival. Sarah was awarded $1000 second prize in the Pitch Lab as part of the Creative Recovery Resilience Forum in July 2022. She has used the funding to start up The Durham Comedy Club in Kingston as a place where women and people of diversity know they will be encouraged to find their comedy voices as performers and audience.
