Simone is a writer, musician, theatre-maker, and community cultural development specialist. She has published short fiction and poetry.
From the mid-90s to late naughties Simone played regular live gigs as a solo singer/guitarist and fronted bands including Simone and the Soothsayers playing indie-pop originals and Ginger Kiss playing jazz. She released 2 albums and an EP with the Soothsayers and a solo album, Fall in 2009.
Over the same period, she worked with Canberra Youth Theatre as composer, musical director and drama tutor. From 2003-2007 she was a member of Troupe Dart performing high-energy commedia del ‘arte and developing her alter ego Pedrolino, a cheeky mime who became a popular roving performer.
Simone was appointed Arts and cultural development officer for Belconnen in 2008 and led two major site specific arts projects, in2CHANGE celebrating the life of Belconnen bus interchange and Odgers Lane Art in the iconic Melbourne building.
More recently Simone contributes to the arts through governance and critique. She is a member of the Canberra Critics Circle, reviewing live performance, served on the board of CAPOfor three years, and was a founding board member and president of Rebus theatre for social change.
Simone is currently writer in residence for the ACT Recovery and Resilience forum and an exchange artist for Snailbox | The Slow Project.
