Kiran Grewal | Talking about engaging communities while slow stitching | Skills Caravan 2

30 May, 2022

Kirandeep Grewal is a multi-disciplinary artist and an art educator based in Canberra.  Her art practice is based upon a meditative approach to everyday life. It is a learning and sharing journey of her work which also encourages others to engage with art. Her preferred medium is silk on which she explores colours. Her designs on silk scarves, wall hangings or paintings are a combination of various techniques, including Shibori, Indian tie-and-dye, free hand drawing/painting and embroidery.

She was invited for Live painting for 2022 Australian of the Year Lunch at the National Gallery of Australia. She has exhibited nationally (Canberra, Hobart, Launceston, Esperance, Perth) and internationally. Since Feb 2020 she has been running the Migrant Women’s Art Group.  This initiative is supported by Gungahlin Arts.

In 2015 she was a facilitator for Artist by the River Projects 7 and 8 in Perth. She was recognised by the Rotary Club of Swan Valley, Western Australia for her dedication to the project.
